Straight Talk
Lets face it the Internet can be a scary place and children as young as 5 are now surfing without supervision. Plus Kids approaching and going through puberty are not the best judges of what's right, wrong, proper behavior, or other peoples motives or character. We are parents ourselves . We are trying to build a social networking site for children and make it fun and safe  We are human just like everyone else. We are not infallible. We take this site very seriously and we are trying to make it as fun and as safe as we possible can.

How this site works
You must be over the legal age to sign up for this site However you can be under the legal age to have and run an account. (what does this mean)? Basically this site is for Teens but they must be of legal age or be signed up by a legal guardian to accept our terms and conditions. Basically you must be of legal age or a parent or legal guardian must approve a child's account by initializing the account validation. Why? well we want the child to be as safe as possible. We don't want children to be on our site without their guardians approval. Why? well for safety reasons A child's guardian can monitor the child's access to the site and keep a closer eye on what the child is doing better than anyone else. We have safety features built into the site that a Guardian is more likely to pay attention to than a Child. This does not mean you are expected to be online with your child while they surf this site You can monitor your child's on site interactions without even signing into the site. Who we are and who is FBFTeens.com
We are a family just like yourselves. I am a Mother of 2 (Mother Hen)
My oldest son is 20 and very heavily into computers and on site videos and games
My youngest son is just approaching 5 and is just starting to surf
My Husband Studied Computer Science at The University of Weston Ontario
I am originally Dutch, as is my oldest son. My Youngest son was born in Spain and My Husband is English having lived in Canada, and America. I speak 4 Languages (Dutch, German, Spanish, and English) and we all now live in in the UK.
We are all working on this site full time 18 hours a day  and are very short staffed.
The concept was thought of in june of 2009 and we went live to the public Aug 15th.

Safety
We have implemented numerous safety features Please see our safety page for complete details. Below is an excerpt from the beginning of out safety page

  2. If anything makes you uncomfortable TELL YOUR PARENTS about it or use the report content button on the left hand side of every page
  3. Never arrange to meet anybody for the first time you have come into contact with through this or any other Internet site, unless you are accompanied by a trusted Adult
  4. If someone is mean to you in a private chat room or makes you feel uncomfortable *CLOSE THE PRIVATE CHAT ROOM* it's that easy

What FBFTeens does to make this site safe
WE review each morning all content that has been inserted into the site and will remove any (if found)  that does not adhere to our content suitability rules.
We review each morning all messages and investigate any that we find that may break site rules or safety rules. We will delete anything we find questionable. We cannot bring back or delete emails that are sent off site, but we will warn a child if we see them engaging in questionable safety practices (i.e. sending someone their phone number or off site contact information). This is for there benefit.
We log and record everything that has been said inside our chat rooms, and between whom, in each private conversation, and will review these records if there appears to be any problem at all.

Remember that under your personal setting is the ability to have all contacts, friend requests, comments, and messages, posted to your e-mail address (the e-mail address on record) so you can review your child's interactions on the site.(this is the default setting). We suggest you take advantage of this ability and review your child's use of the site. Should you change this e-mail address it will have to be re-validated or you will be locked out of the site(check your spam or junk folders) inform your mail account that e-mails from (FBFKIDS.com) are safe.

You or your child's Profile, Blogs, Groups, and photos, and content
Under nearly everything you (or your child) enters, uploads or inputs into the site is an access button, This button gives the access rights on who may view the content  There Are 3 settings. Private (Only your child may see it). Logged in users (anyone registered may see it) Friends  only people on your friends list may see it)
